Cornerback is getting closer
Cornerback Justin Turner arrives in Hawaii this evening.
He said he still is awaiting final approval to complete his transfer, but is “on the right track.”
Asked if he will be cleared before the Aug. 1 start of training camp, Turner said: “I know I will be.”

It is a concern that City College of San Francisco, as one headline phrased it, is on the “brink of closure.”
CCSF has the largest enrollment (90,000) among California’s colleges. Its campus is set in the middle of a major city.
CCSF also is a key player in the athletic arena. Under football coach George Rush, the Rams have won seven national titles, including the 2011 championship. Five Rams are currently on NFL rosters. The Rams and Rush also have had a friendly relationship with the Warriors.
The Rams have sent Nick Rolovich, Darius Bright, Jake Heun and Ikaika Woolsey, among others, to the Warriors. While grayshirting for UH the past fall, Woolsey was allowed to practice with the Rams. He even was presented a championship ring. Conversely, former Warriors have found a home at CCSF.
Evan Dobelle was CCSF’s president and chancellor for five years in the 1990s.. In 2001, his first year as UH president, Dobelle commissioned Rush to start a JC league involving four of UH’s community colleges. Like many of Dobelle’s ideas, the funding did not match the ambition, and the idea succumbed to atrophy.
But Rush remained a person of interest. The past December, a UH official asked Rush to apply for the head coaching job vacated by the “retirement” of his friend, Greg McMackin.

Mahalo to Wes’side for sending us a shot of the Georgia Force poster featuring Bryant Moniz.
OK, fellas, focus on the right side of the picture.

Speaking of Mo, thanks again to the wonderful Mo808 for helping us at yesterday’s Kailua parade:
I hope I’m not first.
Shoot I’m first. Now I can’t come from behind.
There is irony in “Last Call” being first.
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
LASTCALL: But you are first!
LAST CALL – if it makes you feel better, “the first shall be last … “
Good morning!
CCSF?! Gotta go read Bay Area pepahs.
Lets hope the irony of him being First is not the Last.
Interesting news this morning.
‘Gmorning Gang!
Aloha from Vancouver BC,
Finally good sunny weather. Off to see the old haunts and see changes that have occurred.
Hope all had a wonderful 4th yesterday.
Gotta catch up on the news later.
Good morning!
Last Call: funny stuff! I actually laughed.
Morning everyone.
702WF . . .
Enjoy your time tromping around your PNW “home”!
This reminds me of the motorcyclist who tried to use my car as the wind shield down the Pali. But a few strategic taps of the brake fixed that.
S.L.U.T.!
Spam Lovers Unite Today!
75th anniversary of Hawai’i’s favorite meat product.
Appropriately, we already have spam showing up today.
al,
Riding past Moon Garden restaurant on Vineyard reminded me of you. What kine ribs do you order?
K enuf fuud stuff.
I lived in San Francisco for 4 months in 1968. Hated the fog and the damp cold. Not my favorite city. Really and truly, Hawaii no ka oi.
Driving through Napa Valley was fun, though.
Fish and chips wrapped in newspaper purchased in the Haight-Ashbury area — was so yummy.
The fog is pesky, especially when you have an early-morning connection.
Nothing like sitting in a plane on the Boise tarmac waiting for the fog in S.F. to lift.
(But, as I have learned, the fog is good for the grapes that produce the wine.)
it feels like i just had two mondays in one week…
Great Morning All!
90000 enrollment?
Wow! The reunions must be HUGE!
Thanks ST.
Nice pic of mo808. Got mo’? 😉
How many Dirty Harry movies were filmed in San Fransisco and surrounding areas?
Mo is cute !!!!
Wow, mo, you ARE cute! You look like a young co-ed.
Mo’s is one of our favorite restaurant stops on the Oregon coast. Chowduh! Mmmmmm….
Anyway, funny story about the link between Rogue Brewery and Mo’s that results in a portrait of Mo sitting naked in a bathtub hanging in every Rogue pub.
http://www.rogue.com/about/about.php
Hopefully, no such result affects mo808!
Never been to the PNW. Some blog friends live in that area and love it. I would find the constant rain depressing, though. Give me liquid sunshine anyday.
Yeah, it rains everyday. All day.
Best for folks to stay away.
And the clouds! Constantly overcast, grey and gloomy.
No more than a day or two of light overcast . . . ever.
No to mention the snow and cold weather! Albeit I just did.
Good Morning Gangeez!
BHF2- call Shon-Shon today. Call me today. Tanks!
702WF,
Enjoy High Tea at The Empress!
I was reluctantly dragged into going but actually ended up enjoying it a lot!
But the cost of living in the PNW is lower than Hawaii. Hubby’s classmate couldn’t afford a home here in Hawaii, but managed to buy a really nice one in Portland.
wafan,
heheheh
Howzit, everyone! Looks like today is “Mo” day… with Moniz and Mo808 making waves! Let’s see… what’s the “Mo” connection with CCSF? Things that make you go, “Hmmm…” Oh, I know… CCSF… need Mo money! Eh, whatevaz. I know was junk.
Tough news about the future of CCSF. Hope things can turn around for them… but how?
I happen to love the whole central CA coast, from Big Sur all the way up through San Fran. When I was stationed at Fort Ord, we’d have our sunny days and our hot days, but it almost always seemed like temps back home, but about 10-15 degrees cooler year ’round. I always thought it was comfortable, with no stifling humidity. But then again, as we’re marching along with 70+lbs in our rucksacks, or running 7 miles every morning (because we were the 7th Infantry Division), the cooler temps were always welcome. The only drawback… the ocean temps always seemed to be freezing! Went out a couple of times on a surfboard, and I swear, my legs about froze to the point that I had to paddle back in a few minutes later! No wonder all these local kids had wet suits! I thought it was just ’cause we were in Carmel-By-the-Sea, and the kids were rich kids!
Aloha, Mo808! Always good to see your smiling face!
Have a great day, everyone!
DPK. Thanks for the picture. That was too funny. But at that moment you must of been kinda pist?
ST- Is it “our right” or the “poster’s right” that we need to focus on?
In any event, both rights looking good.
Something must be wrong with A-joe if he has to ask ST which right he means. Lol.
Lots of homes care cheap on the mainland — just need to find the nearest trailer park!
Everyone take note of the picture above: Das how you do one “Solid, Mo-bettah, Double Shaka!!” (wit da tita emphasis!)
Comfortable. Spontaneous. No shame kine. Straight to da point. Plenny Aloha!
wafan:
#30 – sounds like what I tell people about living on the windward side of Oahu – why, so they don’t move to our side!
Can always find cheap houses in the middle of the country, too.
gigi- No not wrong. Just trying to be “right.”
(BOOM! Softball pitch ova right center!) =)
Funny how you drive from Kailua onto H-3 and suddenly the clouds part and you see the sun! I am always so happy to see the sun. Gloomy Kailua is not for gigi.
small kind drizzling but nothing to huhu about sun starting to break thru and day should be better. humidity may be a small kine bother but trades at times blow thru.
btw howzit 808 and morning to all. did you’all have a good 4th?
A-House . . .
You sure are sneaky!
I need to learn from you and my kids. HA!
Replace Guy Hagi!
Meeeeen da weddah report by koakane! 😆
koakane: yeppers. good 4th. Hubby said the bone in ribeye steak was the best he ever tasted.
Just saw the pix above.
Mo x 2 = uh oh for the opposition!
#48 tfti
#47 did I tell you I was off next week lol
Getting the roof redone. How many times are they going to apply then remove the tar and paper.
Gosh!
tfti — was dat?
Koakane getting as bad as RedZone and his cryptic code. Lol
d1- I now have this vivid image of Koakane holding a cup of Kope, standing in front of a blue screen and trying to give a 5 day forecast.
enjoying a breakfast fajitas and think will make another to go with kope
ajoe picture this I take a sip and the pic changes to a fuud forecast bwhaaaaaa
speaking of which- Tropical Storm Daniel slowly brewing and coming this way…
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!! I’d rather have koakane do the weather. He’ll make any bad and gloomy day good fun!!
Good morning Tsaikos!
Hard to imagine a huge school like that being shut down.
Go Mo! x2
A-house – us Windward-siders gotta stick together.
gigi – most of the time, when I come out of the H-3 tunnel on the Halawa side, it’s POURING!
abbr for tofutti
Ajoe,
Mo bettah he do the evening weddah….holding one Greenie! 😯
(just as credible as now anyway)
jm: huh??? No way!
D1: OK, so I googled tofutti — and it says non-dairy. No make sense, Lol you guys!
d1 leave the nights to mrs 7 flips and all her greeenie’s lol again
Oh, great.
Another run on bottled water and batteries. I swear Longs bribes the weather bureau.
ST: wat? another hurricane?
kmart bottled water is cheaper than costco bottled water.
koakane would have more class than to have a greenie…probably have a red cup with a straw.
no its not tofutti.
Al: think he would burp, too?
how about too futty?
why am I wasting my time when I could be doing laundry? You guys are too funny, das why.
what happens when you gugu “tfti”?
Gig:
Tropical depression in East Pacific.
I remember the tropical depression on Jan. 2, 2008.
Urban Dictionary: tfti

ST: should I google Jan 2, 2008 too?
Abunai –
I was just happy that I hadn’t sat on that end of the bench before the “incident”. Fo shua da buggah broke!
The Weather Channel re: “Tropical Storm Daniel. It is moving out to sea and is not a threat to land.”
They also indicate that there is another one brewing and may follow the same course as Daniel.
Let’s wait and see what Guy Hagi has to say!
Last Call
I wonder if Clint Eastwood still has his restaurant in Carmel, CA
Hog’s Breath Inn…great burgers
Tsai, I saw you at the parade yesterday and my knee jerk reaction was to shout out “TSAIKO” but I caught myself at the last second just cheering your full name. I somehow felt it wasn’t appropriate to yell Psycho to a preschool section of the parade. bwaaahhhaaaa
justin turner arrives today. cheehoo
Tarring and scraping interrupted by a rain shower.
koakane has too much class to belch on the air…let out a silent one perhaps.
Will-I-Am,
You should try telling a restaurant Hostess, “I’m a Tsaiko. Are any other Tsaikos here yet?” 🙂
Show up in a white lab coat then ask, “Have you seen any Tsai-kos?”
…or hardhat, clipboard, pen and whistle.
Good morning everyone!
702WarriorFan in Vancouver area and had cattle call with wafan last Friday.
Vancouver… arghhh!
Worse, Dory is sending me photos of the cruise ships docked just across the street from her office building in Vancouver harbor. $399 7-nt one ways to Anchorage, indeed!
702WarriorFan — give me a call if you are not in a rush to go home from the Vancouver area. 👿
Always wondered what it would look like if all the fireworks went up at once. After seeing the San Diego show video now I know.
Anyone giving pinterest lessons?
Is that $399 Canadian?
Welcome welcome Warrior recruits!
What is the most exciting thing that you have done in your life ?
Will-I-Am:
I was amidst several politicians, so yelling that would have turned a lot of heads.
give birth to a human being. something men will never experience.
what’s yours?
what’s yours?
Great news about JT! Woo – hoo!
Da Punchbowl Kid… Lol I guess that would be worse. I totally understand. Did you replace it already or just a couple of nails did the trick.
Good to hear about JT. How about Dorsey? Any word on him yet ST?
El Ferd’s got a familiar question:
http://www.staradvertiser.com/sportspremium/20120705_UH_athletic_department_fighting_an_unfair_fight.html
I think giving birth to an elephant is more exciting.
Abunai –
Building maintenance goin’ fix ’em bumbye… some of the wood was lil bit water damaged.
DPK
That’s good. Atleast you’ll have someplace to eat outside when you BBQ.
Darn it, gigi — you had me thinking today was Friday until now. 🙁
Hilobilly –
Please check your phone messages at the 896-#### number. Tanks.
Welcome to Warrior Turner!
Whoo-hoo!!!
Bungee jumping (actually falling).
Time to concern myself with one of the important questions of the day.
What am I going to have for lunch?
SteveM: Friday is still THE laundry day, but I sometimes wash my muumuus on other days.
Nothing to do with UH football, but it may explain why John L. Smith bolted from Weber State after only 4-months on the job $$$$.
http://www.standard.net/stories/2012/07/04/ex-wsu-coach-smith-plans-file-bankruptcy
If home mortgages get any lower banks will be paying us to buy a home.
ST and bryson,
My bad i should of made sure the post about the 2 freshmans in yesterday’s blog was true before i posted. i jumped the gun sorry. I saw that who ever blogged it on sportshawaii took it off.
well…i was gonna say something that men could do that women would never but, i don’t want to get smu’d.
for example…men are great at pretending.
that you can’t hear your wife calling for you as you hurriedly leave the house.
that you didn’t leave the toilet seat up…er, on purpose.
there’s a list of a thousand…but, i’ll refrain.
and then there’s that one thing that i can’t divulge here.
I bowled a perfect game overhand.
I once ran a marathon just because it was on the way.
People need to be more skeptic about what they read on internet message boards.
Especially from no name sources.
LastCall reminds me of a friend who said his goal was to place 2nd in a surf contest. Why second? Because everyone wants to take down #1, no on bothers with #2..
so, al, is Dorsey the last ??? to complete UH’s recruiting for 2012 since JT has arrived?
The greatest job is to be a VP on a board.
Great title, no responsibility.
I was president of a local journalism association for two years. Didn’t sleep peacefully for two years. You constantly worry about raising money. I feel for JD the AD.
here is a very non-sensical trivia:
public restrooms – after putting the “seat down” and you pull the paper seat cover, which side do you place down – the shinny side or dull side? or, does it really matter? if so, why manufacture with a shinny side?
Is this why John L. Smith shafted Weber St and chose to chase Mo Money?
http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/04/john-l-smith-prepping-to-file-bankruptcy/
Anyone ever tried wiping with the toilet seat cover when there is no paper????
It’s like a spackle down there.
Not very efficient.
Speaking of public bathrooms, a shout out to the good maintenance people at Malaekahana State Park.
Was out there camping all weekend and for a public restroom, it was very clean.
What’s more amazing is that it is a state park and they put in new toilets and sinks. Amazing because the past years they weren’t that bad to begin with. Dunno how the hell this is a state-run facility considering… ahem….
Oddly enough the women’s bathrooms encounter more issues like broken doors that still have yet to be fixed so I guess it is a state run facility (ahem… ahem… cough cough….)
I was changing clothes in a Magic Island restroom when in came 3 transvestites, who proceeded to change from street wear to bathing suits. Shudder. They were flat chested.
Hawaii is not as safe as it used to be especially for women.
Ah well. Is it September yet???
ST: as president, were you able to raise funds at all? Even $100 would be an accomplishment.
You’re right. I wouldn’t want to trade places with JD as AD, either.
Donovan has the worst state job in Hawaii.
Donovan’s superiors must only be looking at how much can UH athletics make and how little can they feed down to lower campus at the same time. Its the law of the land to tell people to fundraise so that they don’t have to subsidize what they are already paying with the hopes of paying out even less.
All the while, Donovan is looking at his 20 head coaches asking them to be conference champs and post season players on less than a shoestring budget due to reasons I just mentioned.
As a former student-athlete himself, he must feel conflicted to play the role of bean counter while truly wanting success for his coaches. He knows his coaches need money and the facilities to perform. $$$$ = facilities = recruits in all sports, yet it seems the job asked of him by his superiors is to cut back and raise more all towards the now infamous deficit.
Either you “die” a hero, or you live long enough to become the villian…
Thinking John L. Smith was thinking about bankruptcy long before he took that job with Weber State. He must have been in dire straits financially for quite some time. I figure when he noticed opportunity knocking with potential higher salary at Ark, he got right on the phone and called the AD. Also, Ark state law regarding banruptcy fillings might be more forgiving. I dunno….just a guess.
Gigi #124, would it have made you feel more comfortable if they weren’t flat???
On a similar note, 3 mahus were overheard by Kanaks at Ala Mo’s. Don’t know the detail but it was something about grandma, thong and nailz…. How you figgah?
Amazing JD’s hair hasn’t turned white from the stress.
BigWave: If they had real boobs, then I wouldn’t have thought they were transvestites. When they walked in, I wasn’t sure, even when they had mahu voices.
wafan,
dang!, talk bout spam and now I’m hungry for spam musubi wrapped with nori. Actually, what I shud do is order nori on-line then I could make some. Great idea, self.
What if they had fake boobs 🙂
You would think they would have used padded bras, but they didn’t. I remember their long painted fingernails.
Best answer I heard from a coach. When a reporter last season asked former HC Greg McMackin what the difference was between UH and UW’s football programs McMackin simply said – ” about 20 million dollars” or something to that effect. Put things into perspective very quickly.
GG . . .
Seems you looked at them in some detail.
And, some women are carpenter’s dreams.
#133:
Mrs A-House has a really delicious recipe for spam musubi – she merinates the sliced spam in a shoyu/sugar mix and we double dip the spam in the sauce before placing it in the musubi maker. add a dash of benito/aku furikaki for extra flavor!
whoa, broke da mouth!!
Wafan: it was pretty scary, actually.
Welcome Justin Turner.
so humid. it’s time to turn on the a/c.
Wow, you were really sizing them up, huh????
Gigi, when men goes into Bathroom, rule #1 is don’t look at people changing or shishi’ing.
Do you business and boogie outta there.
ST,
Seems odd for a school with an enrollment of 90,000 to go broke, don’t you think? Do they collect student fees, or it’s all on the state funds?
Had a tranny in my class a few years ago. Nicest kid. Lots of butches in classes for the longest time.
83 degrees inside the house.
Wafan were you taking Abnormal Psychology.
Btw when I type wafan, my spell checker suggest the word Satan
A. House,
tanks for dat recipe…..I wrote it down, no joke…I bet it’s one jaw breaker. Now to order a musubi maker on-line as well. can’t wait till all these things come together….awrite!!
More specifically, the difference between UH and other schools when it comes to facility improvements or planning is that other schools won’t spend $2.4 million dollars on design planning for something that won’t be seen by the public.
I mean its nice to have something in print to say “hey we’re spending this money for this”… yeah, but uhhh.. what is ‘this’. 2 million is impressive for actual work being done compared to designing something that people around it openly admit “won’t ever be finished”.
Did anyone mention that JD was a bit “huffy” on the Animals show on Tuesday when questioned about “pay per view” and other things? I don’t envy JD and his job, however, on the other hand, its a job and you gotta do it or lose it. I really think we should start looking for a new AD with the ability to not only be a “bean counter”, but someone who can rally community interest and can be a “visionary”.
BigWave: how’s Little Wave? I took a picture of you two in 2007 at the spring ohana festival featuring colt brennan.
Attractive component to content. I simply stumbled upon your site and in accession capital to claim that I get actually loved account your weblog posts. Any way I’ll be subscribing on your augment and even I achievement you get admission to persistently fast.
Bowwar: JD is doing a good job. And be careful what you wish for. The next one might be worse.
BigWave . . .
Saw myself in every chapter while taking AbPsy. Some of my kids would agree with the satan name.
Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
!
I think Dobelle was a visionary of sorts, but unable to deliver on getting the appropriate resources to back his initiatives. I truly believe its in the State’s best interests to develop a community college athletic league and program rather than lose alot of our kids to mainland CCs. Besides, a competitive community college league could serve as a “feeder” into the UH Manoa program. I’d like to see the Windward CC “Wildcats” beat-down on the LCC “Mongooses”…lol
When BW mentioned thongs, the first thing that came to my mind was the comedic remix of the Sisqo’s “Thong Song”. Remember when I was vactioning back home the stations would play that song over and over. Great, now I got it stuck in my head…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8AkJDDWT5Y
The CC football championship could be played as the “spam bowl”.
Mmmmmm, spam musubi. Might have to make some one of these days. I like to include a thin sliced marinated ginger piece between the rice and spam.
Gigi: It’s all relative…If you look at JD’s record, there isn’t much to speak about except for his move to MWC, which still could be a fiasco. I don’t see much of a “future vision” from JD and that alarms me in this constantly changing athletic climate in football. I’d rather be like a Boise and pushing the envelope versus having the envelope shoved down our throats.
Uhhhh, that would be the LCC Geckos. Or was it Lizards.
Yeah, I know. I could not believe someone actually picked a mascot for a community college with nary a sports team. Kind of like the Windward CC Wizards, myself.
Well, JD brought in Norm Chow. Hope that proves to be a good decision.
Didn’t some of the local CCs have their own basketball teams back in the 60s or 70s? I seem to recall that HCC used to play teams like Mikilua at Bloch Arena.
Fiasco?
Moving to the MWC and BWC might be a financial burden, but a real fiasco is sitting around in the WAC or trying to go indy.
HPU, UH-Hilo, and Chaminade could also field teams, so it could be a “win-win” for everyone involved. To me, this is something JD should try to develop…being “local” in many ways.
Cash?
Or worse, like eliminating football altogether like some schools. Idaho anyone?
CC football games — would people attend??? Look at the poor attendance at UH games last year.
#162: Your points are well-taken, but we should have taken the “initiative” versus having being “dragged” into the moves. It looks like we’re always “waiting back” and let others dictate our future, versus taking the initiative. I hope the new Chancellor carries through with his desire to target the PAC 12 as his goal…You gotta shoot high nowadays or shoot yourself in the foot.
I just noticed the SPAM 75th Birthday news. 1937-2012. No wonder SPAM has been on sale at most markets this week @ $1.75. Excerpts from Wikipedia…
I almost never eat spam. Too fatty, too salty.
Initiative and aiming high falls on the shoulders of pas administrations.
We minimized long term damage by getting out of the WAC, but the past neglect wasnt on our side to develop leverage to even be considered as PAC 12 potential in their eyes.
So the question is now how do we avoid being placed in such a desperate situation going forward???
I personally doubt there is a plan.
gigi — buy the lower sodium one and fry out all that excess fat until crispy on the outside…yum 🙂

mctruck:
for starters, try 1/3 cup shoyu to 3 1/3 cup of water and 1 table spoon of sugar.
change as needed to fit your taste
I use brown sugar rather than white/refined. If I can find raw sugar it is even better!
3-1/3 cup water????

Thanks wafan — my short memory is slipping. I even thought it was Friday today… 😐
also contains sodium nitrate, a carcinogen.
ah well, I like Portuguese sausage in my omelet.
JD was Hugh’s right hand for many years, so he knew exactly what kind of situation he was getting into.
If I remember my chemistry correctly, sodium nitrate or nitrite by itself is not carcinogenic.
testing new keyboard yay
Sodium nitrite – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A principal concern about sodium nitrite is the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines in meats containing sodium nitrite when meat is charred or overcooked.
You proved me right. It is the chemical reaction caused by heat that produces the nitrosamines.
Look up other research since you are at it regarding stand alone sodium nitrate and nitrite.
Gotta tell one SPAM story that really bothered me…
A couple years ago when the large Carnival Spirit cruise ship had the fire and electrical problem, live reports showed canned crab meat, croissants, and other emergency food being delivered from a US aircraft carrier (who received the food and transported)
Weeks later, a follow-up story shows a pallet-load of SPAM sitting unopened on the ship —it was written up as a horror story for the victims. Carnival PR blamed the food vendor and adamantly denied ordering SPAM for stricken ship.
Sheeesh…that really bothered me. Any Hawaiians on board would probably break open the cases and go capture a grill, if not a cook. 👿
Take home the pallet.
I also dont like sashimi. When she had a kidney transplant, Natalie Cole was told by her doctors to stay away from raw fish on sushi. Parasites. Pathogens.
That story struck fear in my heart. When I order sushi now, it’s usually inside out california roll.
Ignorance is funny.
A Japanese woman said that she likes to see live worms in fish because it means the fish is fresh.
It’s funny how Andrew Zimmern has eaten food that would make a goat gag but he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) bring himself to try a spam musubi.
Glad that Justin Turner is on track to start Fall camp!
Okay, my face is out there and there’s no where to hide.
Thank you D1, Last Call, Gigi, A-joe for the photo comments! D1, lol on the Mo’s restaurant bathtub reference! No, I’m too conservative for that type of stuff. But, next time I’m in Oregon guess where I’m gonna check out?
WW, thanks for the MO’s Georgia Force game link the other day–I have some time this afternoon and will view it!
JM is right my experience is that whenever I’m going over H3 it’s raining heavy in Halawa Valley.
What’s the most exciting thing you’ve ever done? Probably haven’t done it yet. The most terrifying though was having the guts to walk out and jump on the Sky Walk–this after seeing a grown man cry and crawl back to safety! So, I don’t think the guy/gal thing should be compared–viva la difference!
Gigi, thanks for always asking the “please explain acronyms, etc” as it helps me to figgah out what is said here. Oh, and hub’s and I look forward to meeting up with you folks for dinner on 7/12/12. 🙂
Gigi:
no, no! ratio of shoyu to water is 3 to 1; therefore, 3 1/3 cup of water.

#154 Bowwar: Actually, back in the day – late 70s, early 80s, there was a community college basketball league. I played in it. We were the Leeward Lizards, and HCC, WCC, LCC, Hilo Community, Kauai CC and Maui CC all had teams. We played all the Oahu schools and then everyone would have a state tourney to end the season – I remember going to Hilo and Kauai for tourneys.
There were a lot of good former high school players and military players as well.
The problem with Dobelle was if the state can’t continue to field a basketball or volleyball league for the community colleges, you have to be kidding me to talk about forming football leagues. Football costs bucks, big bucks. Dobelle knew that, and he was just blowing smoke.
I used to think that ignorance was bliss.
But then the former New Mexico basketball coach used to get upset.
The Leeward Lizards. I like that.
I suppose we can go all NBA and have the Windward Rain (Is is it singular/are they plural?)
Or the Windward Wind.
I used to think a cool name would be the Buffalo Buffaloes.
Was it a year ago, we had buffalo pictures (almost) daily? And, no, we will not be having pictures of Trojans this year.
Anyone can be a “visionary”. The ice-heads on Kapiolani Blvd are technically “visionaries”.
Not everyone can actually put things into motion successfully.
No Trojans? Risky…

hey Mo: that’s great! Looking forward to meeting you and hubs on the 12th. I’ll email Kekoa about the headcount. Don’t know if he has to reserve a table by phone or kapu one when we get there.

Nah, fry up the spam, char em, just squeeze some lime, lemon or whatever juice on em and it will inhibit nitrosamine formation. Problem solved.
Just read an article that states internet in American Samoa is on average $2000 a month! wow!
Where’s the article? I would think their rates would be comparable to beep beep.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/04/most-expensive-internet-in-america-samoa-broadband-interview/
FROM ENGADGET
Think they have a link to the actual artical somewhere
CCSF is where OJ Simpson played before starring at USC
I’m sorry. All I could hear was that somebody is paying $2,000 to read the blog.
Steel Jantz and David Garness played there, too, right?
And Jeremiah Masoli
They can get internet at a cheaper rate (slower speeds). They talking about broadband and justifying the cost for just a couple of thousand users.
And former future walkon kicker Edgar Castaneda
Steele’ Bro, Broughan, is still a QB there

I don’t have access to my contact list etc from my Tpad.
can you email me info or your phone no to call.
Been out all day walking around my old neighborhood by the Granville Island/False Creek area.
Heading out to dinner and will check on return.
Mahalo
Lots of my frosh are blissful. Quite a few seniors, too.
And the parents! Oye!
Rain is causing this 1.5 day roofing job to go 4 days.
If 3:1 and 1/3 C shoyu, then 1 C water.
If 1/3 C shoyu and 3 C water mostly coloring and sweet colored water.
Have used Splenda instead of sugar, too. Use less Splenda than you would use sugar, though.
ahouse…how about one more mystery guy.
Finally cooling off on the mountain. YAY!
Now it feels like a nice spring morning at home. Just does not smell like it.
looks like all of the basketball recruits are in school except caleb dressler and keith shamburger who have pledged that they will arrive in august.
one recruit has yet to get the final okay from the ncaa, isaac fotu that is. he is here though.
A-House wrote shoyu to water is 3 to 1. 3 cups shoyu, 1 cup water.
ahhh, nevermind, just buy huli huli sauce.
Wonder whatever happened to Will Brogan.
Gentlemen, start your search engines . . .
I used Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade and Sauce on my bone in ribeye steaks yesterday. Was ono.
Cant be bothered making teri sauce from scratch.
ken taylor mentioned on the SH forum that rick and will are both helping him out with his new recruiting services (sounds similar to piaa).
Another place the G.I.s left behind a taste for spam is in England.
Cheepono:
Thanks.
You completed some good points there. I did a search on the theme and found a good number of people will have the same opinion with your blog.
Always wanted to see and hear Rick Taylor’s Greg McMackin impression.
Still do…
Will Brogan is working with Coach Ken Taylor, Rick is the VP, at http://www.athleticscholarshipcentral.com
I always liked the Taylors.
Brogan was nice, too, but I didn’t have much interaction with him.
Will was the 2006 NaKoa Offensive Scout Team POY
You sure this is a sports blog and not a food blog…hmmm getting hungry for something teriyaki…but spaghetti
tonight with hamburger and portugese sausage
wow! Jeremy Lin going to the Rockets. Wonder if the Knicks will counter offer.
rockets <3 chinese players
Particularly interesting cheers, It is my opinion your trusty visitors may well want considerably more items of this nature continue the excellent effort.
Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.
Cannot give recipes with shoyu without specifying brand. Just like gas, got different grades. Aloha = Unleaded. Yamasa = Regulah and Kikoman = Supah. Gotta add more watah with Kikoman.
3-prong: no need add water to Kikkoman.
I pour it on salmon filets and bake.
I marinade steaks in it and broil.
Always good with Kikkoman! Lol. They should pay me for the endorsement.
Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce.
Not the shoyu. Maybe with the shoyu, you gotta add water.

I thought I asked you the ? about the last mystery Warrior recruit to be Dorsey.
Is it someone else?
It’s really a great and helpful piece of information. I’m glad that you shared this helpful information with us. Please stay us up to date like this. Thank you for sharing.
no matter the brand – use the 3 – 1 ratio of water to shoyu.
Aloha the weakest, Kikkoman next level above, and Yamasa the most powerful (in our honest opinion)
Love Yamasa, myeh on Kikkoman
Does anyone know if there are videos of the Warrior Bowl online? I see a few from previous years but not this year.
wonder how much publicity UH will receive IF they are able to recruit top notch student athletes from across Asia and Southeast Asia – golf, tennis, swimming & diving, basketball, volleyball, baseball, track & field, softball, water polo, etc.?
notice I leave out football – except for Australia and New Zealand – cause this sport is just NOT popular at this moment.
where are the “gods” when I need $5.4 billion.
OK, al. does the UH defensive back and defensive coordinator have the skills to bring/make a cohesive unit with the ***** star incoming players?
enough to make USC run for their $$$?
me, I take the 38.5 points and run!
I think USC’s offense is going to be on a totally different level. I don’t think Bama’s defense could stop Barkley & Co.
A. House,
just to let you know, I cooked up a can of spam with that shoyu/sugar combo and ate same with my brown rice and asparagus. whoweee!!!! dat went broke my mouth. tanks again friend. and good nite ladat.
Actually, I used 1/3rd regular shoyu and 2/3rd teriaki sauce with brown sugar…worked just fine fo me.
Iwwthm, #254, the previous Warrior Bowls were under Mack. Doubt you’ll see UH posting this years One. Now if someone post it on YouTube, that’s another story
Gigi, thanks for asking about LittleWave. He and NewWave comes to all home games now. They keep me in active, no doubt

howzit. will make the call in the am. nite all.
cute wags Mo. 😀
now if you can get Dorsey in da house, I’ll be really impressed.
and good for you manoa 1. no doubt the kids feel better about your contrition. coaches too I’ll bet.
the vibe about our coaching staff is totally positive. totally. as in totally.
ahouse…dorsey was a mystery recruit a few weeks ago, but, he is considered to be a legit known recruit. he’s on track to get his aa and should be here nlt july.
well, there’s another mystery recruit, still.
with justin turner, dorsey, and ronnie fields coming in along with the freshmen our secondary just got bigger, stronger, and faster in one year.
imagine if darren myles got here, too.
we now have depth with a bunch of 3-4 star db’s along with the already solid core that returns. we have the potential to field the best secondary in the mwc this year. what they do back there will also free up the front seven allowing them to take more risks in the blitz packages.
kaumeyer and jones will carve this secondary and the defense with great care. their combined expertise along with tuioti and others will bring smiles to the warrior hopeful.
well the big day in my house is saturday…stay tuned.
al,
Totally agree with your #271 regarding 2ndary and MWC. Very excited to see how the team develops and learns this year.
Having been immersed in WAC football for the past 30+ years it would be nice to have a primer on the new neighbors and what they will be bringing to the table.
